Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Do you train dogs or do you train humans?
We train humans to understand and guide their dogs. Dogs live with you, not with us — so lasting change happens when you feel confident, calm, and clear in your everyday interactions.
What makes All Ears different from other training methods?
Our work is rooted in communication, not control. We don’t use fear, force, intimidation, or dependency-based methods. Instead, we focus on understanding behaviour, emotional safety, and leadership that dogs naturally respond to.
Do you use treats, choke chains, shock collars, or crates?
No. We do not use choke chains, shock collars, prong collars, or fear-based tools. We also don’t rely on treats as a training crutch. Our methods are inspired by how dogs naturally communicate, through body language, movement, and guidance.
Is this approach suitable for all dogs?
Yes. Our work is adaptable to dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes, and backgrounds — including puppies, adult dogs, rescues, and dogs with behavioural challenges.
Behaviour & Training
My dog is aggressive/reactive. Can you help?
There is no such thing as a “bad” or “aggressive” dog. Reactivity and aggression are responses to fear, stress, confusion, or lack of clarity. We first assess whether a 1:1 Behavioural Consultation is required before recommending any program. Safety and trust come first.
How long does it take to see results?
There is no fixed timeline. Some changes are seen quickly, others take time and consistency. Progress depends on the dog, the environment, and follow-through at home. We focus on lasting change, not instant correction.
Will my dog listen to me without treats?
Yes. Dogs don’t train each other with treats — they respond to clarity, consistency, and leadership. When guidance is clear, dogs naturally follow.
What if my dog doesn’t like other dogs?
That’s okay. Socialising does not mean forced play. Our goal is calm co-existence, not popularity. Many dogs thrive without active play as long as they feel safe around others.
Programs & Sessions
Which program should I start with?
Most families begin with a 1:1 Behavioural Consultation, especially if there are behavioural concerns.
From there, we guide you toward the most suitable program based on your dog’s needs.
Are your programs group-based or individual?
Most of our work is one-on-one or guided small-group, depending on the program. Quality, safety, and attention matter more than volume.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Virtual sessions are effective and allow us to guide you in real time within your own home environment.
Do you take dogs away for training?
No. We do not board dogs for training. Our focus is on empowering you to handle your dog confidently in real-life situations.
Puppies, Babies & Families
When should I start training my puppy?
Before your puppy comes home is ideal. Our Pre-Puppy Session helps families prepare their home, mindset, and expectations so puppies settle with clarity and calm. If you already have a dog home, then our Training Programs help you navigate through the training.
Can dogs and babies live safely together?
Yes, when guided correctly. Our Baby–Dog Introduction Program focuses on safety, boundaries, and emotional adjustment for both dog and parents without fear or force.
Trail with Tails & Experiences
Is Trail with Tails suitable for all dogs?
Trail with Tails is suitable for dogs who can handle new environments with guidance. Dogs don’t need to be “perfect,” but they should be comfortable travelling with their humans. Each enquiry is reviewed before confirmation.
Is Trail with Tails a holiday or a training program?
It’s a Training and Socialising Adventure Retreat. Trail with Tails blends adventure, learning, and guided experiences. Training happens naturally, in real-life settings.
Become a Trainer Program
Do I need prior experience to become a trainer?
No. Our Basic Certification is designed for beginners. What matters most is commitment, self-awareness, and willingness to learn.
Can I directly apply for the Mastery program?
The Mastery program is open only to those who complete the Basic Certification with All Ears. This ensures alignment in philosophy and practice.
Will I get work opportunities after certification?
We offer opportunities to assist and grow within the All Ears ecosystem based on performance, alignment, and availability. Certification alone does not guarantee placement.
